Pan Seared Steaks with Glazed Green Beans

30 min Cook
Scroll to recipe

This is a fantastic way to use the flavor of your steaks to flavor your green beans! We’re going to use all of those brown bits from pan frying our steaks, to create a flavor bursting glaze for our green beans. You can even make this dish on a weeknight, because it’s so simple and requires just one pan!

Using apple cider vinegar, crushed red pepper, and honey mustard… the green beans are sharp and tangy with a hum of heat. With the flavor from our steaks, they’re also quite savory. The pan-seared steaks are juicy and tender, with a nice herbal kiss of rosemary. This dish really hits all of the flavor profiles. When you smell it cooking… it smells meaty, vinegary, mustardy, and spicy!

Equipment

  • Large cast iron or stainless steel pan

Ingredients

  • 3-4 Steaks

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil

  • 3 Sprigs Rosemary

  • 2 Tbsp. Minced Garlic

  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1/4 Cup Water

  • 1 Tsp. Crush Red Pepper

  • 1 Tbsp. Sharp Honey Mustard

  • 1 Lb. Green Beans (Fresh)

  • 1 Tbsp. Butter

Instructions

1

Prepare

Gather all the ingredients.
Wash green beans and rosemary.
Mince garlic if using whole.
Pat steaks dry, and season with salt and pepper.
2

Cook Steaks

Add a couple tablespoons of olive oil to the pan.
While the pan is still cold, add the steaks.
Start the heat on high and reduce to medium-high.
Turn the steaks every couple minutes.
Add the sprigs of rosemary halfway through (so they don't burn).
When the steaks are nearly done, add 1 tbsp. of minced garlic.
Cook the steaks in the garlic, alternating sides roughly every 20 seconds, until the garlic and bottom of the pan turn brown (garlic burns fast).
Finish with butter.
Remove steaks, cover, and set aside to rest.
3

Deglaze Pan

Add 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar to the hot pan.
Scrape all of the brown bits off the bottom of pan, while the vinegar is simmering.
Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and let boil.
4

Simmer & Reduce Green Beans

Immediately add green beans to the boiling vinegar mixture.
Season with salt.
Add 1 tbsp. minced garlic.
Add crushed red pepper to your liking (spicy).
Reduce heat to medium-low and cover. Simmer for roughly 10 minutes or until the vinegar mixture has fully reduced (it should look glossy and pull away from the pan, not runny).
Mix in 1 tbsp. of sharp honey mustard and a dash of olive oil.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

If the green beans aren't done enough... add a little bit more water, then simmer until reduced once more.
